INTEGRATIVE THERAPY

Support & Specialization

Relationships & Emotional Connection

Many individuals struggle with feeling emotionally disconnected within themselves or their relationships. This may show up as emotional shutdown, communication struggles, avoidance, resentment, fear of vulnerability, intimacy challenges, difficulty expressing emotions, or feeling distant from a partner despite wanting connection.Therapy can help individuals and couples better understand relational patterns, attachment dynamics, emotional responses, and communication styles while creating healthier emotional connection and understanding.

Grief & Emotional Overwhelm

Grief can affect every part of life emotionally, mentally, physically, and relationally. Whether connected to the loss of a loved one, relationship changes, life transitions, identity shifts, or emotional pain carried over time, grief often impacts the nervous system, emotional wellbeing, relationships, and overall functioning.Therapy offers a supportive space to process difficult emotions, better understand emotional responses, and move through grief with greater compassion, grounding, and support.

Anxiety, Stress & Burnout

Stress and anxiety can show up in many ways — racing thoughts, emotional overwhelm, overthinking, irritability, difficulty slowing down, nervous system dysregulation, sleep difficulties, or feeling emotionally exhausted and disconnected.Therapy may support individuals in understanding stress patterns, developing coping strategies, regulating the nervous system, and creating healthier emotional balance and self-awareness.

Emotional Shutdown & Self-Worth

Many individuals have learned to disconnect from emotions as a way of coping or protecting themselves. Over time, this can impact relationships, self-esteem, emotional awareness, communication, and overall wellbeing.Sessions may explore emotional avoidance, shame, self-worth, identity, vulnerability, perfectionism, or attachment patterns while supporting greater self-understanding and emotional connection.

Life Transitions & Personal Growth

Life changes can bring uncertainty, stress, emotional overwhelm, grief, and feelings of being stuck or disconnected. Therapy can provide support through major transitions while helping individuals reconnect with themselves, build emotional resilience, and move forward with greater clarity and self-awareness.

An Integrative Approach to Therapy

Therapy at Luminary Wellness Center is approached through a blended and individualized lens
that recognizes healing looks different for everyone.

Rather than relying on a single therapeutic approach, sessions are tailored to the individual using a combination of evidence-based therapies, somatic approaches, mindfulness practices, and nervous system-informed support. This allows therapy to adapt to each person’s emotional needs, experiences, personality, and goals while supporting healing in a way that feels collaborative, grounded, and meaningful.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS explores the different “parts” of ourselves that may develop through life experiences, relationships, and emotional wounds. This approach can help individuals better understand inner conflict, protective behaviours, emotional reactions, people-pleasing tendencies, self-criticism, and emotional avoidance while building greater self-awareness and self-compassion.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy focuses on creating a compassionate, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered within their healing process.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic approaches recognize the connection between the mind, body, and nervous system. Sessions may explore how stress, trauma, anxiety, grief, and emotional overwhelm are experienced physically within the body while supporting grounding, emotional regulation, and nervous system awareness.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns while developing healthier coping strategies, emotional awareness, and behavioural changes.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy focuses on the stories we carry about ourselves, our relationships, and our experiences. Sometimes life experiences, trauma, relationships, or difficult emotions can shape the way we view ourselves in limiting or painful ways. This approach helps individuals separate themselves from their problems while exploring patterns, beliefs, strengths, and personal experiences with greater compassion and understanding. Narrative Therapy encourages individuals to reconnect with their values, strengths, and the parts of themselves that may have been overshadowed by stress, shame, anxiety, or difficult life experiences.

Gottman Method

The Gottman Method is an evidence-based approach commonly used within couples therapy to support healthier communication, emotional connection, conflict resolution, and relationship understanding.
This approach helps couples better understand relational patterns, strengthen communication skills, rebuild trust, and navigate conflict in a more supportive and connected way. Sessions may focus on improving emotional awareness, deepening connection, reducing criticism or defensiveness, and creating healthier relationship dynamics overall.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT supports emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and communication skills while helping individuals better navigate intense emotions, stress, relationships, and emotional overwhelm.

Mindfulness & Nervous System Regulation

Mindfulness and nervous system-focused practices may be integrated throughout sessions to help individuals feel more grounded, emotionally aware, present, and connected to themselves.

An Integrative Approach to Therapy

At Luminary Wellness Center, these approaches are often naturally blended throughout sessions depending on the individual’s needs, goals, and experiences. Therapy is intended to feel flexible, supportive, and personalized rather than rigid or onedimensional. The focus is on helping individuals better understand themselves, strengthen emotional wellbeing, improve relationships, and create meaningful and sustainable healing.
